What’s the Allure?
Seattle is a cultural and business hub located in Washington (state) and considered to be the largest city in the Pacific Northwest. It is aptly nicknamed The Emerald City for its bounty of evergreen trees and sensational views of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. Business and vacation travelers alike can partake in the many offering found in this enchanting metropolis including working with some of America’s leading companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and Boeing, as well as enjoying a varied selection of sightseeing, art, and outdoor adventures.
Points of Interest
Seattle’s mild but often rainy weather makes it the ideal location for visitors that enjoy cultural activities such as visiting museums, architectural landmarks, and contemporary art galleries. Notable locations include the Seattle Art Museum which features a good selection of art from around the world, the interactive Pacific Science Center – located on the grounds of the Seattle Center (famous for housing the iconic Space Needle) and the Henry Art Gallery – one of the largest galleries in Washington.
When the weather is optimal, interesting visits include the Woodland Park Zoo (where animals live freely in large open spaces) or Discovery Park – a great place for kite-flying, lounging on the beach or visiting the remarkable wildlife sanctuary located there.
Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and sizable Asian population, fresh seafood and Asian cuisine are specialties in this Northwestern city. A favorite area to dine in the downtown area is near the famous Pike Place Market – where fish market workers routinely engage in amusing “fish-tossing” displays, to the delight of onlookers. The market is also home to the original Starbucks Coffee House and is ideally situated close to a number of landmark locations around town. Nightlife varies between the jazzy lounge bars available in the more sophisticated areas but a large university population (from the University of Washington campus) and a decidedly bohemian Capitol Hill area ensures a little something of interest for all walks of life.
There are a number of great offerings for exercise enthusiasts here since Seattle boasts dozens of parks, running (or cycling) trails and hiking areas. Other seasonal activities include boating, skiing, and even mountain climbing. If watching sports is more appealing than actual participation, then visitors would be thrilled to learn that Seattle is the proud home of leading professional teams in the world of baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and hockey.
Why We Love it
Seattle is practically bursting at the seams with inventive activities for all visitor profiles year-round. Yet, despite its solid reputation as an excellent destination for business, pleasure and for housing over 2.5million inhabitants, it is quite refreshing to know that Seattle has maintained its easy-going hospitable quality. And when deciding on the perfect place to conduct some business or take a short holiday break, that fact may make all of the difference in the world.
